The Story Thus Far )
governmentninja: (Long way down)
To say that the Main Armory on this ship is an infinite room filled with an infinite number of weapons with limitless ammunition and spare parts is virtually the only way to describe it. The room has endless racks of weapons extending from one end to the other. Each rack extends down into a bottomless pit, up into a limitless ceiling, and extend as far back as the eye can see. However, rather than it being a total violation of the laws of physics, I suspect it's really just holographic representation of the various weapons and armor stored about the ship.

For starters, physical contact with any of the items in the Main Armory is impossible. The entrance lets you on to a terrace that will let you view everything, but is glassed in, with no way to proceed further. The only thing on the terrace is a computer terminal which will all someone to search all of the weapons there. While searching, the racks can be effortlessly moved and rotated to display the weapons.

From there, weapons can be moved to one of several hundred weapons lockers, provided it's a 'free' weapon. For certain weapons, vehicles, and armors, there's a locked safety protocol in place. If an item is locked, it can be viewed in the main armory, but Stacy will only release it into the custody of someone specific, likely the item's rightful owner, or at least someone native to the world the item originated from. This seems to be in particular for the combat mecha and powered armors.

Land based vehicles, or those capable only of sub-orbital atmospheric flight can be moved to a handful of designated areas, likely so they can be dropped down to the surface of a planet. Currently the crew only has access to one of those points. Space faring ships can only be moved to one of the hanger decks, but the crew doesn't have access to those parts of the ship at this time.

There also looks to be enough tools and spare parts to repair anything Stacy has in storage, and enough batteries, generators, and fuel stores to power all ships and vehicles.

Locating the room was the biggest obstacle to fully utilizing it, since everything in Weapons and Possessions moves around frequently. Stacy is refusing to allow me to link my omnicomm to it, but I can have the controls forwarded to some of Stacy's terminals in levels 2-5. Public access isn't an issue, as Stacy requires both a verbal authorization code and biometric verification to release anything, including handguns.

((This is list is unofficial and any items are subject to mod approval. Just remember the main rule for vehicles and weapons, that the rarer it is in its home canon, the less likely it is that Stacy will let the crew at large touch it. So, no, everyone can't have a Gundam.))

File 003

governmentninja: (Thoughtful)
Since the previous update, a few things have changed.

For starters, I've been named the new Chief of Security. It's little more than a title, but so far people are starting to respond. I've commandeered what appears to have some kind of alien Police headquarters located in the city section of the ship. Stacy's sensors are damaged in the city, so it affords me a level of privacy I wouldn't be able to get elsewhere.

Secondly, other individuals from my world are here as well. Namely, Claire Redfield and Sherry Birkin. Sherry appears to be no older than twelve, which seems to indicate that she was taken seven years prior to me, shortly after being left in federal custody.

That her disappearance wasn't mentioned prior will be dealt with.

In addition, Steve Burnside, Prisoner #267 at Umbrella's Rockfort Island facility, has also shown up. He was assumed deceased with the destruction of Umbrella's Antarctic facility, but clearly that information was incorrect. Furthermore, he's still infected with a strain of the T-Veronica virus.

Why Stacy both gathered him and released him is unknown, particularly while he is infected, is unknown. Unless Stacy was unaware that he was infected to begin with. It's possible that the ship's AI is far more compromised and damaged that it likes to let on.

The virus has yet to cause any mutation to his system, and the doctors on board and looking into both treatments and a possible cure. If none is found and the virus goes active, the subject will be terminated.

Its undetermined if the virus is contagious, though so far no others have shown signs of exposure.

89% Eros, 7% Ludus, 93% Storge, 32% Pragma, 14% Mania, 89% Agape

At various times, everyone takes on different aspects of each of the love styles. No one is just one style or another. However, we each have styles that we may tend towards more than the others.

Also, no one style is necessarily better or worse than any other. It's more important to find what works for each of us as individuals, and figure out how to enjoy our love in a healthy and positive way.

The descriptions below were taken from Close Relationships Research by Susan S. Hendrick and Wikipedia's entry on Love Styles. I highly recommend checking out these resources if you find this subject interesting.

Eros 89%

The Eros lover is characterized by passion, though a passion broader than just a physical one. The Eros lover tends to be drawn toward a preferred physical type, and thus there may be an immediate recognition or "aha" when meeting a potential love partner. This lover is intense and wants to be involved with a partner on all levels, becoming physically affectionate (and intimate), talking for hours, and learning all about the partner. The Eros lover is fully and openly "present," is self-confident and trusting, and balances intensity with an appropriate sense of boundaries.

Erotic lovers view marriage as an extended honeymoon, and sex as the ultimate aesthetic experience. They tend to address their lovers with pet names, such as "sweetheart" or "honey." An erotic lover can be perceived as a hopeless romantic. Those of other love styles may see erotic lovers as unrealistic, or trapped in a fantasy.

The advantage of erotic love is the sentimentality of it. It is very relaxing to the person doing it. The disadvantage is the inevitableness of the decay in attraction, and the danger of living in a fantasy world. In its extreme, eros can resemble naivete.

Ludus 7%

The Ludus lover, in contrast, is not interested in intensity, but rather experiences love as a game to be played for mutual enjoyment but not necessarily with any serious outcome in mind. Ludic lovers do not have a preferred physical type. Although ludic lovers may be in a partnered relationship with someone, ludic love is best played with several partners at a time, so that different people may be enjoyed for different qualities, in different activities, with no one person or relationship taking precedence over another. A ludic lover may hurt a partner inadvertently, but the goal is to enjoy relationships with a variety of people, with everyone having fun and no one getting hurt.

Ludic lovers are players. More interested in quantity than quality of relationships, ludic lovers want to have as much fun as possible. Ludic lovers choose their partners by playing the field, and quickly recover from break-ups.

Ludic lovers generally view marriage as a trap, and are the most likely of the love styles to commit infidelity. They might view children as a sign of fertility, or, if male, a confirmation of their masculinity. They regard Sex as a conquest or a sport, and they engage in relationships because they see them as a challenge.

The advantage of ludic love is excellent sexual technique. The disadvantage is the likelihood of infidelity. In its extreme form, ludic love becomes promiscuity.

Storge 93%

The Storge lover is someone who builds a love relationship on a strong base of friendship. The goal is: A companionable, secure, trusting relationship with a partner who is similar in terms of attitudes and values. This similarity is much more important to Storge than physical appearance or sexual satisfaction because this orientation to love is more likely to seek long-term commitment rather than short-term excitement. (S. Hendrick & Hendrick, 1992, p. 65)

Storgic lovers are friends first. Storgic love develops gradually out of friendship, and the friendship can endure beyond the breakup of the relationship. Storgic lovers choose their mates based on homogamy, and sometimes cannot pinpoint the moment that friendship turned to love. Storgic lovers want their significant others to also be their best friends.

Storgic lovers place much importance on commitment, and find their motivation to avoid committing infidelity is to preserve the trust between the partners. Children and marriage are seen as legitimate forms of their bond. Sex is of lesser importance than in some of the other love styles.

The advantage of storgic love is the level of intimacy between the partners. The disadvantage is boredom and lack of passion.

Pragma 32%

The Pragma lover is all that the name implies, including practical and pragmatic. A Pragma lover may or may not have a preferred physical type, but he or she will surely have a virtual (or actual) shopping list of qualities sought in a partner. This type of lover may profit from working with a matchmaker or a computer dating service, in which inappropriate relationship candidates will be screened out. "The pragmatic lover isn't looking for great excitement and drama, but, rather, for a suitable partner with whom a satisfying, rewarding life can be built" (S. Hendrick & Hendrick, 1992, p. 66).

Pragmatic lovers are practical. Pragmatic lovers think rationally and realistically about their expectations in a partner, and select them via comparison shopping or shopping-list love. Pragmatic lovers want to find value in their partners, and ultimately want to work with their partner to reach a common goal.

Pragmatic lovers will avoid infidelity to avoid adverse consequences, and carefully weigh the costs and rewards of a relationship. Pragmatic lovers view sex as a reward or a means of procreation, and view marriage and children as potential liabilities and assets.

The advantage of pragmatic love is practicality and realism. The disadvantage is undemonstrativeness and lack of emotion. In its extreme form, pragma can become prostitution.

Mania 14%

The Mania lover is also aptly characterized by the love style name, in that emotional highs and lows, as well as dependence, possessiveness, jealousy, and insecurity are typically present. A manic lover yearns for a love relationship but finds it elusive, because she or he seems compelled to push for commitment from a partner, does not really trust the commitment even if it is forthcoming, and is always afraid that the partner will find someone else. Another aspect of Mania is physical symptoms, such as difficulty eating or sleeping. Overall, the Mania lover always seems to be looking for the cloud around the silver lining.

Manic lovers often have low self-esteem, and place much importance on their relationship. Manic lovers speak of their partners in possessives and superlatives, and feel they "need" their partners. Love is a means of rescue, or a reinforcement of value. Manic lovers often discover their partners by haphazard means.

Manic lovers will avoid committing infidelity if they fear discovery. They view marriage as ownership, and children as either competition or a substitute for their lover. Sex is a reassurance of love. Manic lovers are often anxious or insecure, and can be extremely jealous. Manic lovers respond well to therapy, and often grow out of this style.

The advantage of manic love is intensity. The disadvantage is jealousy, obsessiveness, and insatiability. In its extreme, mania becomes addiction or codependency.

Agape 89%

The Agape lover is the rarest type of lover. Agape is characterized by altruism, such that the partner's welfare is more important than one's own welfare, and what one can give in a relationship is more important than what one gets. Indeed, Agape has much in common with compassionate love. The idealism of Agape means that there is no one preferred physical type in a partner, and indeed, sensuality and sexuality are likely to be much less important than more spiritual qualities. Although pure Agape is unlikely to exist on the physical plane of this world, agapic qualities are extremely important as relationships encounter inevitable ups and downs.

Agapic love is self-sacrificing, all-encompassing love. Agapic lovers are often spiritual or religious people. Agapic lovers view their partners as blessings, and wish to take care of them.

Agapic lovers will remain faithful to their partners to avoid causing them pain, and will often wait patiently for their partners after a break-up. Marriage and children are sacred trusts, and sex is a gift between two people. Agapic love believes itself to be unconditional, though lovers taking an agapic stance to relationships risk suffering from inattention to their own needs.

The advantage of agapic love is its generosity. A disadvantage is that it can induce feelings of guilt or incompetence in a partner. In its deviant form, agape becomes martyrdom.

Re: File 001

I was wrong. About a number of things.

For starters, I am on a ship. A space craft that's roughly fifty miles long, and largely organic. The ship is also apparently capable of traveling to alternate dimensions. From the brief view of the exterior that I had, the ship seems to be suffering from some kind of disease of decay.

We've ("we" being the other prisoners and myself) also discovered why parts of the ship have been blocked off. It seems a currently unnamed party has seized control of the rest of the ship, and compromised some of Stacy's programming. Stacy walled us off then woke us up to help break it free, and has kept this unnamed party unaware of our presence.

However, the exact nature of how I came to be on this ship to begin with is still unknown. Stacy's true nature is also unknown. The exact motives and mission of the unnamed party are also unknown.

We are aware that the unnamed party is armed, and will likely consider us hostile. As we have yet to make contact, I have no idea if a peaceful resolution is even possible.

Notes:

-Heavier artillery is located somewhere we have access to, though Stacy's programming is preventing it from telling us where its located.
-Archived information in the Media Library may hold clues about current situation.
-Crew members have been put back into stasis temporarily by one of the other AI programs on the ship. When they are, the AI will temporarily suppress the memories of the other prisoners that pertain to that individual.
-This memory suppression also appears to extend to personal logs. Previous file has been tampered with.
-I've also become aware of a third party known as the Ohm. They appear to possess a biological weapon capable

Objectives:

Primary - See to safety of the other prisoners aboard this ship.
Secondary - Locate cache of heavy weapons.
Tertiary - Recover archived data.
Quartary - Find out more about the Ohm and their capabilities.
Quintary - Find a god damn pair of pants.
governmentninja: (iPhone)
((OOC: There are just a bunch of notes Leon is typing in his PDA in regards to his current situation on [livejournal.com profile] trans_9))

Date & Time: Unknown
Location: Unknown

For a period of time that I'm not yet able to determine, I was held captive by an unknown party. I was kept in some kind of stasis, and only recently was released from that. Where I've ended up doesn't seem to be any better.

I'm not alone.

I'd estimate there are thousands of people still in stasis, and a small number, somewhere between 100-150 people, were released. Most of the other captives range from ages 16-50, though I've been told that there was at least one small child here. Apparently people are released in groups of 10-20 at a time. I appear to be part of the 7th group to be released.

I don't know exactly where I am, and there have been few clues. Whoever my captors are, they have access to advanced technology and bio engineering. The place is run by an advanced AI known as Stacy and the walls themselves seem to be alive. In addition, in lieu of clothing, captives are forced to wear some kind of some kind of symbiotic plant-suit, or be forced to walk around naked. Wearing the suit shows no ill-effects thus far, but its unknown what long-term exposure can do.

According to Stacy, I'm on a ship of some sort. The other captives believe this with little question, but this facility has to be well over a mile long and a height of upwards of a thousand feet. In addition, there seems to be no swaying that's the hallmark of a sea vessel, though the size of this structure may have something to do with that. There's one window located on the upper levels, and all it ever shows are various stars, though I haven't been able to make out any constellations. This has led most of the captives to believe that this is really a space ship of some kind. Even after everything I've seen, though, I don't buy that.

If I had to guess, the stars out the window are fake, just like the artificial sunlight projected in other parts of this place. I'd also guess that I'm not on a ship, but on some kind of compound on land, that's just based on the sheer size of the place.

Stacy is the closest thing that there is to a guard here. I've been warned that there are dangers lurking around, but nothing specific to act on. Otherwise, aside from several sections being sealed off, we have freedom to roam around as we choose, and even have access to a weapons locker. I was even able to retrieve this smartphone, but outside of keeping notes, it's not of much use. It's set to the factory defaults, so it can't even give me the correct date and time, its devoid of all my contacts, and no service signal can penetrate wherever I am.

Why we have access to all this firepower and all these recreational facilities is beyond me. This is almost like some demented country club prison, or some kind of twisted social experiment. Food, games, and the occasional threat to keep us on our toes and force us into action.

We've been provided food, mostly in the form of a tasteless slop, and water. Its disgusting, but still better than starving to death.

As stated previously, others believe that they're on a spaceship, and thus have adopted a similar naval-based command structure. A woman by the name of Cybil Bennet is Captain, but the title itself is mostly perfunctory. She has no control over this location, but seems to hold sway over most of the remaining captives.

Her second in command is a man knows as "Master Chief". He's military, and likely the kind of man you don't want to mess with. He's in charge of security, and I would assume he's Bennet's top enforcer.

At the least, they seem sincere about keeping everyone safe and getting everyone out of here. So long as they are, I'll assist in any way I can.

In addition, I need to scout out more intel on any threats lurking within this area. Possibly related to that, there's a twelve year old girl that's recently gone missing. I don't know what the Master Chief is doing about it, but I'll look into that myself. I'm also attempting to get my hands on a map of some kind.

And I'd kill for a pair of pants right now.

Ideas?

After a rather lengthy hiatus, I've been wanting to play Leon again. While he'll still pop into the nexus now and again (and if anyone wants a scene outside of there sometime, just drop me a note), I'm looking for someplace else to play him with some regularity.

Anyone have any suggestions?

So...

Today could finally be the beginning of the end to Umbrella. But to do that, they had to wrangle answers from a monster. That may explain Leon's mood, which was more stoic than usual. He had already arrived on the base where Birkin was being held in isolation, and had been through the security screening. Now he was quietly waiting, along with two other gentlemen for the STARS team to get through all the security checks.

He hadn't said much to the other two, and was trying not to think too much. The last thing he needed was to be caught up memories and blow up at Birkin (or even blow up Birkin). Too much was on the line today.
governmentninja: (Bored.)
Leon had been in Italy for a few days now. For the most part, his job has been to help deal with the Italian Government, getting all the bureaucratic nonsense out of the way so the STARS can go in and do their thing.

Unfortunately, this meant a lot of paperwork. And a lot of sitting around and doing nothing while top ranking officials on both sides had a giant pissing match over every minor detail.

It was almost enough to test his patience.

But he knew what was on the line here, and wasn't about to blow it.
governmentninja: (Looking out)
Finding a bar in the nexus wasn't too difficult, as there were a lot of them around. It was a bit of a dive, which likely made Leon and the newly clean cut Kevin look out of place, but it didn't seem to bother Leon none. He walked up to the bar and ordered a couple of beers, which were promptly placed on the bar for them.

"So, since when do 'responsible' and 'Kevin Ryman' belong in the same sentence?"

He really can't wait to hear this story.

It was good to be able to spend Christmas with everyone, especially with Claire. It seemed neither one of them got to spend as much time with the other as they had wanted, but they managed. He was thankful for that. He honestly didn't know if he could have this kind of relationship with any other woman.

This had been one hell of a year for him. Looking back, he had accomplished a lot, and while he had to make some tough calls, he's still proud of everything he's done.

He didn't know what the new year would bring, but to say that he had learned to expect the unexpected was an understatement. Strangely, for the first time in a long time, he found himself looking forward to another year of craziness. Largely because he knew he'd have friends he could count on, when he needed them. And even more importantly, he'd have Claire, who'd be right there with him in the middle of all of it.
