"It's gonna be dirty, sick, sad, and bloody, and if I try to stay out of it, it'll be worse when it happens. The best thing I can do is jump in with both feet, accept the good parts of it, and hope I tip some kind of balance."
She hoisted herself up a little so her elbows rested on his knees, and the back of her head rested against his solar plexus.
"I still can't believe this is my life now, that these are the kinds of decisions I'm being asked to make. If this is how it is, though, I can't afford to hold back. Not anymore."
