His heart nearly lept into his throat at the sound of her voice, and suddenly he was overcome with an equal sense of enthusiasm and dread. At least, though, she was here.
He stood up, facing her, his arms at his sides. "Ada...", he spoke, his voice surprisingly cool despite all the emotions churning within.
"I don't hate you." He sighed, then looked off to the side, eyeig the pond. "Can't say the same for the man you work for."
He finally looked back at her, his eyes locking onto hers. "Why, Ada? You obviously don't want to be there. What could he have on you that's so important?"
